Nexus School is a special school in Tonbridge for children and young people aged 2–19 with profound, severe, and complex learning needs, including autism. We are seeking a kind, committed and enthusiastic Midday Meals Supervisor to join our dedicated team.
You will play a vital role in supporting our pupils during the lunchtime period — helping to create a calm, safe, and enjoyable dining and play experience. This is a rewarding role ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a real difference every day.
Set up and clear away dining areas (tables, chairs, equipment)
Support pupils with eating, including assisting with feeding when necessary
Ensure mealtime hygiene and cleanliness (wiping tables, sweeping floors, washing utensils)
Provide supervision during play, indoors and outdoors
Support pupils with personal care and PEG feeding (training provided)
Promote positive behaviour and social interaction
Work collaboratively with teachers and support staff to meet pupil needs
Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies
Essential:
GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C or above in English and Maths
Experience working with children (preferably in a school or care setting)
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Patience, flexibility, and a strong team ethos
Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with children with additional needs
Desirable:
Experience working with children with SEND
Knowledge of PEG feeding and personal care (training provided if not)
First aid or safeguarding training
A caring, inclusive and positive school community
Comprehensive training and induction
Supportive leadership and colleagues
