Job Description

Are you an organised and compassionate individual with experience in supporting children, especially those with additional needs? Nexus School is looking for a proactive and confidentLead Midday Meals Supervisorto oversee and coordinate our team of lunchtime support staff.

As Lead Supervisor, you will ensure the smooth and safe running of the lunchtime period, supporting pupils across the school while leading, guiding, and developing a team of Teaching Assistants and Midday Meals Supervisors. You’ll play a key role in ensuring mealtimes are calm, enjoyable, and inclusive for all children.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate and support a team of Teaching Assistants and Midday Meals Supervisors
  • Organise and delegate lunch staff responsibilities and daily routines
  • Ensure safe and effective dining arrangements are in place
  • Oversee setup and cleaning of the dining environment
  • Support pupils with feeding, personal care, and mobility needs
  • Promote positive behaviour and supervise playground and indoor play
  • Liaise with teaching staff to understand pupil needs and priorities
  • Monitor performance and provide guidance/training to lunchtime staff
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, safeguarding, and school policies
  • Attend relevant meetings and training sessions as needed

Person Specification

Essential:

  • GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C or above in English and Maths
  • Experience supervising or leading a team (formally or informally)
  • Experience working with children, ideally those with SEND
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management
  • Calm, caring, and flexible approach to problem solving

Desirable:

  • Experience in a special school or care setting
  • Knowledge of PEG feeding and personal care (training will be provided)
  • Basic IT skills for communication and coordination
