Job summary

NYKays Recruitment Ltd is seeking experienced Midday Meal Assistants for a long-term contract, with potential progression to a permanent position in schools across the region.

You will support children with special needs, particularly autism, during lunch and play times, ensuring a safe, enjoyable and nourishing school day. Duties include supervising lunchtime, assisting with meals, and maintaining a clean, caring environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children with learning difficulties, especially autism.
• Ability to supervise in a busy lunchroom and follow safeguarding policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with setup and cleanup of the lunchroom hall.
• Help students with meal trays and ensure a safe, enjoyable lunch.
• Monitor dietary restrictions or allergies and accommodate them.
• Maintain a safe, clean lunchroom or cafeteria.
• Communicate with teachers, administrators and parents about concerns.
• Collaborate with lunchroom staff to ensure efficient service.
• Assist with personal care.
• Provide a positive and supportive presence at lunchtime.
• Follow safeguarding and behaviour management policy.

At NYKays Recruitment Ltd we are recruiting for experienced Midday meal assistants working on a long-term contract which could possibly lead to a permanent position.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to support schools in providing care and support to children with a range of Special Needs and behavioral difficulties within the Education/Special Needs sector during meal and play times.

It is essential that you have experience working with children/young people with learning difficulties, particularly autism to be considered for this role.

Midday meal assistant are responsible for supervising students during lunchtime at schools. Your duties will include

• Assisting with the setup and cleanup of the lunchroom hall
• Helping students with their meal trays and ensuring they have a safe and enjoyable lunch experience
• Monitoring students' dietary restrictions or allergies and ensuring they are accommodated during lunchtime
• Maintaining a safe and clean environment in the lunchroom or cafeteria
• Communicating with teachers, administrators, and parents about any concerns or issues that arise during lunch period
• Collaborating with other lunchroom staff to ensure efficient and effective lunch service
• Assiting with personal care
• Providing a positive and supportive presence for students during lunchtime
• Following Schools policy and procedures of safegurding and behaviour management.
