Job summary

Bupa is seeking a Microsoft Security Platform Security Engineer to design, implement and operate Microsoft security tools across our healthcare platform. You will drive security monitoring, threat detection, and data protection strategies while collaborating with stakeholders to improve governance and compliance.

Based in a hybrid setting (Salford preferred), you will lead automation, optimize Defender suites and enable resilient cloud security for millions of customers.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Defender and Purview.
• Experience implementing or managing DLP and information protection.
• Proficient in KQL and security analytics.
• Experience with Azure Logic Apps and cloud security technologies.
• Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK framework and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Lead the configuration and continuous improvement of Microsoft Sentinel as the central security monitoring and response platform.
• Develop and maintain detection rules, dashboards, workbooks and threat-hunting queries using KQL.
• Create and enhance automated response playbooks using Azure Logic Apps.
• Integrate and optimise Defender alerts and security controls.
• Design and implement data classification, sensitivity labelling and information rights management controls.
• Develop and improve DLP policies across Microsoft 365 and other platforms.
• Support compliance requirements, including data protection and information governance standards.
• Manage Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Identity, Defender for Office 365 and Defender for Cloud.
• Configure Defender for Cloud Apps to strengthen visibility and control of cloud services.

Working within our security team, you'll play a key role in designing, improving and managing Microsoft security technologies, including Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Purview. Key Responsibilities

What We’re Looking For

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft Purview
• Experience implementing or managing Data Loss Prevention (DLP), information protection and security monitoring solutions
• Proficiency in Kusto Query Language (KQL) and security analytics
• Experience with Azure Logic Apps, automation and Microsoft cloud security technologies
• Good understanding of cloud security, threat detection, incident response and cyber security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK
• Ability to work with technical and business stakeholders to improve security outcomes and data governance
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset

Nice to have

• Microsoft certifications such as SC-900, SC-300, SC-400 or AZ-500
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, CSX-P or GIAC
• Knowledge of security and compliance frameworks including ISO 27001, NIST and CIS benchmarks
• Understanding of UK and EU data protection regulations, including GDPR and the Data Protection Act
