Job summary

Eurofins is recruiting for a part-time microbiology analyst in Wolverhampton. The role involves completing analyses of food samples using established laboratory techniques, with training shifts during the first two weeks from 11:00 to 19:00.

You will adhere to quality procedures, perform sub-culturing, plate reading, and use equipment such as PCR, Pathatrix and ELISA, while maintaining accurate records and contributing to continuous improvement in the microbiology department.

Qualifications

• Diploma in relevant subject area such as microbiology.
• Experience in fast-paced production/retail environments would be advantageous.
• Experience working in a team.
• Good organization and time management.
• Able to self-motivate.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The purpose of this role is to complete, to the required quality standards, the analysis of food samples for a given method using laboratory techniques.

This is a part time role working 20 hours per week, there are currently the following shift patterns available.

• Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 13:00till 18:00.
• Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 13:00till18:00.

Yes, first 2 weeks to be Monday to Friday between the hours of 11:00 and 19:00 for training.

• Adhering to documented procedures in the Quality System for all aspects of laboratory work, ensuring that allrelevant information concerning samples is recorded, that samples are handled correctly, and that all necessaryrecords and quality data are maintained.
• Sub-culturing, plate reading, confirmations and validation of analytical results as required.
• Run any equipment required for analysis such as PCR, Pathatrix and ELISA.
• Conducting and recording Media QC, raising and documenting any non-conformances.
• Reporting of results in accordance with the methods of analysis and Customer requirements.
• Be able to raise non conformance workfollowing any non-conformance and to investigate root causes and implement actions.
• Maintain turnaround time at >99%, ensuring that daily targets are achieved.
• Be familiar with laboratory FGS software, understand and be able to implement processes relating to sample/test data entry.
• Responsible for ensuring that UK health and safety legislation is maintained and helping to ensure that the working environment is kept safe.
• Take responsibility for the cleanliness and hygiene of the area you work in at all times ensuring it is always kept clean and tidy. Removal of waste generated whilst working following the guidelines provided for disposal of waste.
• Ensure all appropriate paperwork is filled out on a daily basis
• Work with the team to drive the laboratory forward through continuous improvement.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Manual in order to ensure compliance at all times with the policies, procedures and associated documents which are referred to in the manual.
• Provide a high level of internal and external customer care by ensuring all results are delivered accurately and on time.
• Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department.

Qualifications

• Diploma in relevant subject area such as microbiology.
• Experience in any type of fast pace production/retailwork would be of advantage.
• Experience in working in part of a team.
• Good origination and time management.
• Able to self-motivate.
