Job summary

Eurofins Scientific seeks a contributor to the water microbiology team. You will prepare media, handle sample prep, perform microbiological analyses, and train on equipment within a busy lab. Ensure proper record-keeping under UKAS quality systems and maintain high safety standards.

Roles involve teamwork in a shift pattern (6am-2pm/10am-6pm) across weekdays and weekends, with training and development opportunities offered as part of Eurofins’ supportive environment.

Qualifications

• A level in a science related subject (preferably Biology).
• GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalent.
• Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel).
• Comfortable working in a busy environment.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare media (agars etc.) for microbiological analysis.
• Sample preparation according to company protocols.
• Conduct microbiological analysis of water samples.
• Train and operate relevant equipment.
• Maintain general laboratory housekeeping and prevent cross contamination.
• Keep accurate records in line with UKAS quality system.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Report anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor.
• Follow Health and Safety procedures in the lab.

Job Description

Unfortunately we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.

37.5 Hours per week. Various shifts Monday - Sunday. Hours of work 6am-2pm, 10am-6pm. Shifts vary when on 10hr rotation.

Purpose of the post:

Support the water microbiology department.

• Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
• Sample preparation in line with company protocols
• Microbiological analysis of water samples in line with company protocols
• Training and operation of relevant equipment
• General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
• Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
• Effective communication with all employees
• Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor
• Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory
