The role includes coordinating releases, evaluating new tools, and evolving functional annotations and pangenome representations. Ideal candidates hold a PhD or equivalent experience with strong Python, Nextflow/Snakemake, and database skills, plus collaboration across international teams.

Qualifikationen

• PhD in bioinformatics, biology, computer science, or related field, or a Master's with equivalent experience.

Aufgaben

• Maintain microbial genomes in Ensembl, including loading new annotations and diagnosing issues.
• Coordinate releases in a release-based environment with other Ensembl subteams.
• Assess new microbial genome annotation tools to provide enhanced annotations.
• Contribute to functional annotation pipelines and representation of microbial pangenomes.
• Design, build and test technical solutions to improve processes.
• Create and maintain up-to-date documentation and participate in code reviews.
