Job Introduction

We are recruiting for a Vehicle Technician to join Listers MG in Northampton. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team ahead of our new dealership opening in June / July 2025. MG is one of the fastest-growing automotive brands, with an extensive lineup of new models. The successful candidate will be part of this exciting journey.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5pm, plus Saturdays from 8.30am to 12.30pm on a rota basis.

Role and Responsibilities

1. Servicing, repairing, and diagnosing all vehicles in the workshop, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standard on the first attempt.
2. Performing electrical and mechanical repairs, including suspension, steering, brakes, wheel bearings, driveshafts, exhausts, and air conditioning servicing.
3. Additional responsibilities include repairs on EV and Hybrid vehicles, using electronic diagnostic equipment, focusing on batteries, drive motors, auxiliary drive packs, and control systems.
4. Fitting manufacturer accessories and audio equipment.
5. Understanding and impacting Customer Satisfaction positively.
6. Operating systems like video reporting (e.g., CitNOW), with training provided.
7. Completing all service paperwork to manufacturer and brand standards.
8. Collaborating with the workshop team to learn and share knowledge continually.

About You

1. Experience in the automotive sector as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, HGV Mechanic, HGV Technician, Motor Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Technician, Car Mechanic, HGV Fitter, Auto Electrician, MOT Tester, or Apprentice Vehicle Technician.
2. Backgrounds including independent garages, fast fit centers, car supermarkets, or main dealerships are all welcome.
3. Minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, with ongoing or completed qualification.
4. Electric and Hybrid vehicle qualifications are advantageous but not essential; full training will be provided.
5. MOT license is beneficial but not essential.
6. Full UK driving license.
7. Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge with a commitment to high standards in all work.
