About the MFI

The Migrant Futures Institute (MFI) is being established at Goldsmiths in 2025 thanks to a major philanthropic commitment by Oak Foundation in academic year 2024-25.

The MFI is set to be a beacon of rigorous research, innovative policy solutions, and creative approaches to understanding and reshaping migration discourse. Through collaborative research and creative practice, the MFI engages directly with migrant organisations and communities, working with them to generate new knowledge, cultivate understanding, and support their well-being, creative and work aspirations.

About the Role

Working with the MFI Director, the Impact & Engagement Officer will play a key role in generating and demonstrating the measurable impact of the Institute, also ensuring that impact evaluation and reporting is an embedded strategic priority and supports the MFI in achieving its main objectives. The role includes working with research staff across the University, as well as external partners and diverse stakeholders (local, national and international; across all sectors civic society, creative arts, Law, social provision, political structures and campaigning, as well as more conventional academic spheres) to understand, evidence and increase the social impact of their work; supporting initiatives and partnerships that boost the study, research and enterprise opportunities available to people from migrant and refugee backgrounds; communicating the work of the MFI; and playing a key role in securing University of Sanctuary status for Goldsmiths.

About the Candidate

You will have significant experience of understanding how to support project teams and enhance their stakeholder engagement to increase the impact they have through their academic research. You will also have experience of evaluating impact, including how to track and report on this. Your project management experience and organisation skills will enable you to manage multiple work streams and stakeholders. You will have experience of working across sectors and an interest in social justice and key issues related to refugees and migration, drawing on this to enhance the impact of your work.
