Job summary

British Gas is recruiting a Metering apprentice in the UK. You’ll learn to install and repair meters, explain and reassure customers, and support them to get the best from their energy use. You’ll train at our academies, be mentored by experienced engineers, and visit homes locally to help customers feel in control of new technology.

The programme combines hands-on skills with recognised qualifications, with progression through staged salary increases and London weighting where applicable.

Qualifications

• 4 GCSEs, ideally including Maths & English, at grade C/4 or above or a recognised equivalent
• A full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points
• Availability to attend training at one of our four UK academies with accommodation and travel provided if needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn to install and repair meters and explain to customers how to get the best from their energy use.
• Visit homes in your local area to support customers with new technology and energy management.
• Work with engineers and mentors to develop hands-on skills and professional qualifications.
