Meter Fitter Team Lead

Department: Electrical

Reporting To: Team Lead

Description

To lead and support the Domestic Meter Rollout team in delivering meter replacements safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards. The role is responsible for providing day-to-day technical guidance, promoting safe working practices, ensuring compliance with Company procedures, and supporting the successful delivery of the rollout programme. The post holder will also liaise with customers and colleagues in a professional and effective manner.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To lead and support the Domestic Meter Rollout team in the safe and efficient delivery of meter replacements.
  2. To provide day-to-day technical guidance and ensure work is completed in accordance with Company procedures and safety requirements.
  3. To monitor the quality of work completed and address any issues or concerns identified.
  4. To support the planning and delivery of daily rollout activities to achieve programme targets.
  5. To identify, investigate and elevate any unsafe, damaged or unusual installations.
  6. To ensure accurate completion of all job records, customer information and programme documentation.
  7. To maintain effective communication with customers, colleagues and other departments.
  8. To support the training, development and competency assessment of Meter Fitters.
  9. To maintain high standards of health and safety, customer service and professional conduct across the team.
  10. To undertake any other duties reasonably required to support the successful delivery of the programme.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Good practical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow instructions, procedures and safe working practices.
  • Commitment to health and safety, including completing risk assessments.
  • Basic computer skills and confidence using handheld/mobile devices.
  • Professional and courteous approach when dealing with customers and colleagues.
  • Reliable, organised and able to work independently.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Minimum of City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate or Diploma in Domestic and Commercial Electrical Installation (or recognised equivalent).
  • Ability to achieve competency sign-off for domestic meter installation activities.
  • Demonstrates the ambition and commitment to develop into a fully qualified electrician, with a willingness to undertake further training, qualifications and competency development throughout the Domestic Meter Rollout Programme.
  • Motivated to continually develop technical knowledge and practical skills through structured learning, mentoring and on-the-job experience.
  • Positive attitude towards learning new skills and embracing personal and professional development opportunities.
  • Willingness to work towards recognised electrical qualifications, with training and support provided by Guernsey Electricity.
  • Full Category B driving licence.
