Job summary

Cooksongold, Birmingham, is seeking a Metallurgical and Process Quality Engineer to support manufacturing operations on the shop floor, focusing on melting, alloying, casting and downstream processing of precious metal alloys. You will investigate issues, identify root causes and drive corrective actions to ensure conformance to requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related field (Desirable).
• Strong knowledge of physical metallurgy and the relationship between composition, microstructure, processing and material properties.
• Experience applying metallurgical knowledge in metal manufacturing, including melting, alloying, casting, and related processes.
• Practical experience in metallurgical testing, material analysis and failure investigation.
• Ability to translate technical findings into practical manufacturing solutions.
• Clear reporting and communication with production teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day metallurgical and process quality support to melting, alloying, casting and subsequent processing operations.
• Work on the shop floor with operators and production teams to investigate manufacturing issues.
• Assess how alloy composition and processing affect product quality and variation.
• Investigate customer enquiries, non-conformances and process issues.
• Perform metallurgical testing and interpret results.
• Apply root cause analysis and drive corrective actions.
• Review specifications and process parameters against standards.
• Support audits and CAPA investigations.
• Analyse quality and production data and document findings clearly.
