Job summary

Orion Electrotech is hiring a Metal Fabricator in the West Midlands to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business. The role involves fabricating components from mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium, reading detailed drawings, and performing high-standard MIG welding where required.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, with overtime potential. The position offers full-time, permanent employment with a competitive hourly rate and opportunities for training and development

Qualifications

• Experience in metal fabrication with steel and aluminium.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• MIG welding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed fabrication and engineering drawings.
• Fabricate components using mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
• Carry out cutting, forming, assembling, and tack welding.
• Perform MIG welding to a high standard (desirable).
• Operate workshop equipment including guillotines, press brakes, and overhead cranes.
• Inspect finished work and identify defects.
• Complete work efficiently while meeting quality standards and deadlines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment.

Metal Fabricator

Location: West Midlands
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £31,200 - £35,360 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm (40 hours per week), with overtime available

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Metal Fabricator to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in the West Midlands. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a growing team, working on a variety of bespoke heavy engineering projects and producing high-quality fabricated structures and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret detailed fabrication and engineering drawings.
• Fabricate components using mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminium.
• Carry out a range of fabrication duties, including cutting, forming, assembling, and tack welding.
• Perform MIG welding to a high standard (desirable).
• Operate workshop equipment, including guillotines, press brakes, and overhead cranes.
• Inspect finished work and identify any non-conforming materials or defects.
• Complete work efficiently while meeting quality standards and production deadlines.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organised work environment.
• Complete relevant documentation and assist with additional workshop duties as required.

Skills & Experience Required

• Previous experience in a metal fabrication role.
• Strong fabrication skills working with mild steel and stainless steel; aluminium experience is advantageous.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
• MIG welding experience.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills.
• Comfortable carrying out physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and manual handling.
