Job summary

Siemens Healthineers is seeking a MES Engineer to provide engineering support for Managed Equipment Service operations in a hospital environment. You will diagnose faults, repair equipment and perform preventive maintenance in line with MHRA guidelines and SLAs.

The role requires strong engineering knowledge and experience with service management software. The position is office/site based in Romford, London area, offering extensive training opportunities and a benefits package including

Qualifications

  • Hold Electronics, Medical or Engineering Degree or HNC (or equivalent).
  • Post-qualification work experience in MES/EBME workshop within a hospital environment.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Sound knowledge of engineering principles and how they are applied in practice.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages and service management software.
  • Understanding of service level agreements and customer satisfaction targets.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and diagnose faults on a wide range of medical equipment, considering patient safety, efficiency and cost.
  • Carry out repairs in accordance with manufacturer specifications and SLAs.
  • Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPMs) per programme and schedules.
  • Carry out acceptance testing and commissioning of new, loan and trial equipment per MHRA guidelines.
  • Achieve Customer Satisfaction targets and maintain quality, safety and compliance standards.
  • Seek and initiate process improvements to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Enter data and maintain the Siemens asset database (EAM).
  • Attend training courses and meetings relevant to the MES contract.
  • Support annual equipment inventory and audits and other internal/external audits.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Investigate and diagnose faults on a wide range of medical equipment ensuring the appropriate remedial action is implemented whilst taking account of patient safety, efficiency, cost, performance and response/fix times.
  • Carry out repairs in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications and within the agreed Service Level Agreements (SLA’s).
  • Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM’s) according to the agreed programme and PPM schedules.
  • Carry out acceptance testing and commissioning of new, loan and trail equipment as per MHRA guidelines.
  • Achievement of Customer Satisfaction targets.
  • Maintain the Company's standards of Compliance, Quality and Health & Safety as they relate to the MES operations.
  • Actively seek and initiate process improvements to improve efficiency and cost savings.
  • Data entry and maintenance of EAM (Siemens asset database).
  • Attend any appropriate training courses, meetings and/or conferences which are relevant to the role / support work being done within the MES contract.
  • Assistance with full annual equipment inventory and audits, also with all associated internal/external audits.

  • Other duties that are appropriate to the role as and when required to meet the operational needs of the Company.
Qualifications/Experience
  • The successful candidate will hold Electronics, Medical or Engineering Degree or HNC (or equivalent qualification or experience).
  • Proven post qualification work experience gained within a Managed Equipment Services (MES) / EBME workshop within a hospital environment.
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Sound knowledge of engineering principles and how they are applied in practice.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages and service management software.
  • In addition, you will have a good understanding of working to service level agreements and customer satisfaction targets.
