Job summary

CAE is seeking an experienced Merlin Simulator instructor at RAF Benson to train and mentor aircrews in a demanding military environment. You will deliver simulator-based instruction, assess performance, and support development across varied operational scenarios.

Qualifications

• Ex-military Central Flying School (CFS) accredited B1 or higher Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI)
• Relevant helicopter instructional experience
• Demonstrated training, coaching, and mentoring capability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Leadership and teamwork abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and IT systems
• Eligibility to live and work in the United Kingdom
• Ability to obtain security clearance

Responsibilities

• Deliver Merlin Simulator training to whole crews and ab-initio students
• Convert ab-initio students from aircraft type training to operational deployment
• Teach and mentor crews on capabilities, techniques and tactics using day/night scenarios
• Plan, brief, set up and conduct simulator sorties from IOS or TCC
• Instruct on aircraft systems, emergency drills, SOPs within the syllabus
• Provide role-player support including ATC roles and additional crew duties
• Assess trainee performance against required standards
• Use Digital Recording and Playback to support effective debriefing
• Complete post-sortie documentation in the Training Management Information System
• Instruct and assess Crew Resource Management principles
• Manage training events safely and efficiently and report safety trends
• Design and develop Squadron Training Modules and update courseware
