The Role
We are looking for a driven and analytical Merchandiser to join our growing team. In this key role, you will be responsible for ensuring our products are well-positioned in the market, stock levels are optimized, and trade performance is continuously reviewed to drive business growth. You'll collaborate closely with various teams, including Design, Marketing, E-commerce, and Supply Chain, to execute strategic initiatives and achieve financial targets. Key Responsibilities:
1. Trade Analysis & Action Planning
- Own the start-of-week trade analysis, identifying key trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Propose actionable recommendations to the Management to drive sales and address potential issues.
2. Stock Management & Replenishment
- Monitor inventory levels, making timely recommendations for stock replenishment and potential trading actions.
- Control stock levels in line with weekly sales data and stock intake (WSSI), ensuring products are available to meet customer demand without overstocking.
3. Best Sellers & Risk Management
- Identify top-selling products and ensure they reach their full potential through appropriate stock management and promotional strategies.
- Proactively identify and manage product risks, including underperforming lines and stock-outs.
4. Season Reviews & Future Planning
- Lead season reviews and lessons learned to inform future merchandising strategies.
- Apply insights from previous seasons to refine and improve the product range and planning for upcoming periods.
5. Merchandise Planning & Coordination
- Collaborate with the Design and product teams to develop and maintain a comprehensive merchandise plan that aligns with company objectives, customer demand, and financial targets.
- Ensure the merchandise plan reflects seasonal trends and customer preferences.
6. End-of-Season Sales (EOSS) & Product Exit Strategy
- Take ownership of the EOSS strategy and product exit plans, collaborating with the Merchandising Director and CCO to sign off on final markdowns and stock exit strategies.
- Ensure that product exit strategies are implemented effectively and with minimal impact to brand perception.
7. Collaboration with Commercial Teams
- Work closely with marketing, finance, and eCommerce teams to develop and execute commercial strategies and plans.
- Ensure that merchandising strategies are aligned with wider business goals and market trends.
8. Supplier Management & Negotiations
- Manage relationships with production team working closely on pricing, and delivery schedules to optimize product availability and margin.
- Ensure suppliers adhere to delivery timelines and quality standards, particularly for key product launches.
9. Team Management & Support
- Oversee the day-to-day management of the MAA and AM, ensuring their workload is effectively prioritized based on the current needs of the business.
- Provide guidance and support to team members to ensure high performance and effective task execution.
10. Ad-hoc Duties
- Provide additional support on ad-hoc projects and tasks as required, maintaining flexibility and adaptability to business needs.
Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in merchandising, ideally within retail or fashion.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate it into actionable insights.
- In-depth knowledge of stock management and trade analysis tools (e.g., WSSI).
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and an understanding of the supply chain process.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience in leading and developing a team.
