Be the first Merchandiser at a fast-growing name in homeware

THE COMPANY

A growing name in online homeware with big ambitions and a brand-new role. They’re expanding and looking for their first Merchandiser / Merchandise Planner to bring some clarity and commercial insight to the numbers behind the product. With investment going into new systems and better data-led decision-making, this is an opportunity to shape the role from day one and make a real impact as the business grows.

THE ROLE

As the first Merchandise Planner, you’ll work hand-in-hand with the Buyer and be the commercial co-pilot getting stuck into strategic decision making helping them make smarter buying decisions, spotting trends, flagging risks and backing winners. This isn’t about stock management or filling containers (there’s a great supply chain team already in place); this is about strategy, range architecture, pricing and delivering weekly, monthly, and seasonal reporting, ensuring insights are action-oriented and data-led. True partnership where your commercial input will be valued.

  • Shape the merchandising strategy, with a focus on range architecture, pricing, customer segmentation, and category planning
  • Monitor weekly trading and recommend rebuys or markdowns
  • Analyse performance by product, price point, supplier, and margin to support trading and strategic direction
  • Partner with the Buyer to manage option counts and product mix each season
  • Collaborate with Buying, Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance to ensure plans are aligned and executed smoothly
  • Help shape and improve planning processes and reporting
  • Contribute to long-term planning, with future scope to build and lead a merchandising team

ABOUT YOU

You’ll be the first Merchandiser in the team, so confidence and self-direction are key –someone who’s comfortable flying solo in a small business. You’ll know your way around numbers (obviously) but more importantly you’ll know how to interpret it and turn data into clear, commercial actions. Bonus points if you’ve ever been the first merch in a business, driven process changes or introduced new tools.

THE REWARD

This is a newly created role where you’ll have the freedom to make your mark and shape how merchandising is done. You’ll be joining a growing business where your ideas will be heard, your input will be valued, and you’ll have real influence from day one. It’s a true strategic partnership — not just executing plans, but helping to shape them. And best of all, you’ll be part of a brand you’ll be proud to help grow.

£Depending on Experience - open to discussion as this is a new role
