Job summary

Bettys & Taylors Group is seeking an experienced MEP Technical Services Manager to lead the Group Property Services team in Harrogate. You will direct MEP services across a diverse portfolio, ensuring safety, compliance, efficiency and future readiness.

You will provide expert technical guidance, oversee statutory programmes, support capital projects and shape long-term asset investment strategies, while developing a high-performing MEP team.

Join us as the MEP Technical Services Manager at Bettys and Taylors Group - Our family business is home to three iconic Yorkshire brands - Yorkshire Tea, Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate.

We are seeking an experienced MEP Technical Services Manager to join our Group Property Services team, based in Harrogate. Reporting to the Group Property Services Director, you will lead the delivery of mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services across our diverse property portfolio, ensuring our buildings remain safe, compliant, efficient and fit for the future.

As the Group's technical lead for MEP services, you will provide expert advice and assurance on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, oversee statutory compliance programmes, support the delivery of capital projects and help shape long-term asset investment strategies. You will work closely with colleagues across Group Property Services, Sustainability, Health & Safety and operational teams to ensure high standards of service delivery across the estate.

The role combines strategic leadership with operational oversight. You will lead and develop the MEP team, manage maintenance and compliance activities, drive continuous improvement initiatives and provide technical leadership during major incidents and business continuity events. You will also play a key role in improving building performance, identifying opportunities to enhance energy efficiency and supporting the adoption of innovative technologies across the portfolio.

About you
  • Significant experience in a senior MEP, Technical Services, Facilities Management or Building Services role.
  • Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and statutory compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing maintenance programmes, asset lifecycle planning and capital investment projects.
  • Strong understanding of UK building services legislation, compliance requirements and industry best practice.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and develop technical teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build effective relationships at all levels.
  • Strong risk management and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical and commercially sound solutions.
  • Experience working across multi-site property portfolios would be advantageous.
  • Professional membership of CIBSE, IET, IWFM or similar (or working towards chartership) is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the BTG sites as required.
