Job summary

Parkinson Gray Associates is supporting a leading UK construction, infrastructure and property developer to recruit an MEP Design Team Lead. You will head a Building Services team and oversee MEP design for large-scale projects, ensuring coordinated, sustainable and compliant delivery across disciplines.

The role requires Chartered Engineer credentials (preferred) and strong experience in managing multi-discipline teams, with an emphasis on quality and safety.

Qualifications

• Chartered Engineer or equivalent with membership of CIBSE or IET.
• Experience leading multi-discipline technical/engineering teams and driving sustainable performance.
• Ability to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to a broad audience.
• Experience applying quality procedures and document control in engineering design.
• Must be able to pass BPSS security checks.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Building Services/MEP design team on major construction projects.
• Manage design teams, integrate disciplines and ensure compliant, cost-effective solutions.
• Drive innovation, maintain quality standards and support team development.
• Assist Head of Building Service in business management and delivery coordination.
• Develop and maintain strategic client relationships and manage team utilisation.
• Oversee feasibility, multi-stage designs and condition reports.
• Lead team development across technical, behavioural and health & safety aspects.
• Contribute to business development, bid responses and client meetings.

Joining the company as an M&E Design Manager provides an exciting opportunity to lead a talented building services design team, overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) design for large-scale, complex construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• As the MEP Design Team Lead, you'll be working within the Building Services team, supporting them in delivering coordinated MEP design solutions for major construction projects.
• You'll be the central point for technical excellence, managing design teams, integrating different disciplines, and ensuring sustainable, compliant, and cost-effective design delivery.
• Working collaboratively with clients and colleagues, you'll drive innovation, maintain quality standards, and support the development of your team whilst helping to shape the future of Building Services.
• Supporting the Head of Building Service in managing the business and ensuring coordinated solutions for all allocated works
• Developing and maintaining strategic client relationships with internal and external clients whilst managing team utilisation
• Overseeing designs and advice including feasibility, multi-stage designs, and condition reports
• Managing team development, including technical, behavioural, and health & safety aspects
• Playing an active part in business development, including fee production, quality responses, and attending client meetings

Person Specification:

• A Chartered Engineer (preferred) and member of CIBSE or IET, with a Degree in Mechanical Building Services or Electrical Engineering
• Experienced in managing and driving a multi-discipline technical/engineering team with a proven track record of driving sustainable performance
• Able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a wider business audience, both verbally and in writing
• Experienced in the application of quality procedures and document control in engineering design
• Able to pass the BPSS (Baseline Personnel Security Standard) requirements
