Job summary

McLaughlin & Harvey seeks an experienced MEP Site Manager to lead on high value mechanical and electrical works, delivering safe, on-time, and within budget outcomes on complex projects in the UK. You will drive coordination across substrate disciplines and ensure rigorous site discipline from planning through to handover.

You will coordinate on-site M&E packages, liaise with the project team, ensure CDM compliance, review method statements, and drive quality through inspections and closeout

Qualifications

  • CSCS and SMSTS qualification is essential.
  • Valid driving licence is required.
  • Electrical or mechanical trade qualification is required.
  • First Aid at Work is desirable.
  • Knowledge of BIM BG6 and RIBA stages is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand scope of works for M&E sub-contractor packages.
  • Manage on-site works of Mechanical & Electrical sub-contractors.
  • Coordinate M&E works with Civils/Structural/Architectural teams.
  • Liaise with Lead Building Services Manager, Project Manager and QS on out-of-scope works.
  • Ensure Health and Safety/CDM compliance on each project.
  • Review Method Statements and Risk Assessments and monitor compliance.
  • Issue permits for M&E sub-contractors and close out accordingly.
  • Check ongoing installation for contract compliance.
  • Raise NCRs for works of poor quality.
  • Ensure ITPs are produced and closed out.
  • Compile snagging lists and manage close-out.
  • Ensure installed works align with design intent and end user requirements.
  • Understand building contract type and key stakeholders.
  • Order materials/equipment and liaise with the Project QS.
  • Manage diversions/provisions with utilities via regular meetings.
  • Apply for permits to Highways Authority and utility connections.
  • Coordinate off-site highways works with relevant parties.
  • Undertake Temporary Works Coordinator role where applicable.

What you will be doing

The successful MEP Site Manager will have a wide and varied remit making full use of their experience and skills. The MEP Site Manager must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of success in safe delivery of high quality medium to large scale projects to budget and programme.

  • Have a full understanding of the scope of works for the Mechanical & Electrical sub-contractor packages
  • Manage on site works of Mechanical & Electrical sub-contractor packages
  • Co-ordinate Mechanical & Electrical works with the wider McLaughlin & Harvey Civils / Structural / Architectural Site Management team
  • Liaise with the Lead McLaughlin & Harvey Building Services Manager, Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on works not deemed to be included within the scope of works for the project
  • Understand their duties and responsibilities with regards to current Health and Safety/CDM legislation, and the responsibilities of other parties, and ensure compliance on each project
  • Review sub-contractor Method Statements / Risk Assessments and monitor compliance throughout the project
  • Issue permits for Mechanical & Electrical sub-contractors and other various work activities, and close out accordingly
  • Check ongoing installation for compliance with contract requirements
  • Raise NCRs for works undertaken that are of poor quality
  • Ensure that sub-contractors compile and issue inspection and test plans (ITPs) for various works packages, and that these are checked and closed out accordingly
  • Compile snagging lists and manage the process for closing out
  • Ensure as installed works align with the design intent and end user requirement
  • Understand the type of building contract, and the key project stakeholders e.g. client, clients representatives, design team etc
  • Undertake material/equipment orders, and liaise with the Project Quantity Surveyor
  • Provisions/diversion/upgrade/protection works, and manage the process via regular meetings with the relevant utility companies
  • Make any necessary applications for permits to the Highways Authority for road openings, location of skips and/or welfare facilities
  • Make any necessary applications to utility companies for temporary building water, drainage discharge and electricity connections to welfare facilities
  • Understand any off‑site Highways works and manage the process via regular meetings with relevant parties
  • Undertake the role of Temporary Works Coordinator (where applicable)
What Were Looking For
