We have a fantastic opportunity for an MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing) Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Kier Mechanical and Electrical business delivering HMP Glasgow.

Working within a dedicated MEP team managing the delivery of packages worth over £180M across a major custodial facility, the MQS will oversee the commercial team and play a key role in project management.

Hours

Full Time, Permanent. Opportunity for flexibility / hybrid working

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the MEP commercial team, support performance, and oversee subcontractor relationships in line with the contract.
• Follow the procurement strategy established at project start.
• Handle valuation and measurement of changes, advise on legal and contractual matters related to orders and changes.
• Administer subcontractor agreements, including final accounts and notices such as commencement and payment notices.
• Prepare monthly cost reports, internal and external commercial plans, and progress reports.
• Manage project cashflows and turnover forecasts.
• Report and manage risks and opportunities.
• Create margin improvement plans and work to enhance project margins.
• Approve material purchases, ensuring all risks and opportunities are considered.
• Update all commercial tasks and reports monthly.
• Induct team members into company systems and assist with introducing new tasks, systems, and techniques.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree or HND/HNC (or similar) in Quantity Surveying.
• Full UK driving license.
• Experience managing and mentoring commercial teams.
• Experience with a variety of projects, including main and sub-contracting.
• Understanding of main contract forms such as JCT and NEC.
• Technical knowledge of MEPH services, components, and package interfaces.
