Job summary

Rethink Mental Illness is seeking a compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at Romsey Avenue, Nuneaton. You’ll provide person-centred support to adults living with severe mental health challenges and help them build skills for independence.

You'll work across 24-hour shifts, including days, evenings and sleep-ins, with a focus on safeguarding, recording progress, and collaborating with external professionals to promote wellbeing and recovery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Join Our Team as a Mental Health Support Worker
Location: Romsey Avenue, Nuneaton
Enhancement Additional Payments:£50 - Per sleep in (8 hours), £0.86 - Unsocial Hours,1.5 x hourly rate - Bank Holiday

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives? We’re looking for an experienced and caring Mental Health Recovery Worker to join our dedicated team at Romsey Avenue – a CQC Registered home supporting with severe and enduring mental health challenges.

Romsey Avenue is a 24-hour residential service for adults living with severe mental illness. The service provides support seven days a week through daytime, afternoon, evening, and sleep-in shifts, ensuring continuous care and assistance. The service accommodates up to 13 male and female residents and is committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred support tailored to each individual's needs, preferences, and aspirations. Our approach is strengths-based, focusing on empowering individuals to build on their existing skills and abilities. Residents are encouraged and supported to achieve the highest level of independence possible, while maintaining their wellbeing and recovery. Staff work collaboratively with a range of external professionals and agencies to ensure a consistent, coordinated, and holistic approach to support, enabling residents to work towards their personal goals and improve their quality of life.

What will you do?

In this role, I will support individuals on their recovery journey, helping them build skills, confidence and independence. My work will include:

  • Providing one‑to‑one key‑worker support and building positive, professional relationships
  • Carrying out assessments and developing personalised support and safety plans
  • Encouraging people to manage their mental and physical wellbeing
  • Supporting service users with meaningful activities - Daily tasks, such as personal care, maintaining home environment, food and hydration and also sharing successes.
  • Supporting individuals with daily living skills and accessing community services
  • Liaising with mental health agencies, professionals and community groups
  • Contributing to safeguarding and promoting a safe, supportive environment
  • Keeping accurate records, monitoring progress and sharing information with the team
  • Helping improve the service by offering feedback and supporting colleagues
