Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking dedicated Mental Health Support Workers to support students in Corby. You’ll provide one-to-one and small-group support for students facing SEMH challenges, working with teachers and safeguarding teams to promote wellbeing and resilience in a busy school setting.

The role is full-time, temporary-to-permanent, with ASAP start and competitive rates dependent on experience. Training and ongoing professional development are included through National College resources.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people with mental health, SEMH, behavioural, or emotional needs.
• Previous experience within schools, youth work, care, residential settings, mental health services, or a similar environment.
• A calm, patient, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach.
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• The confidence to work independently while also contributing effectively to a wider support team.
• A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students experiencing emotional or mental health difficulties.
• Support young people experiencing anxiety, low mood, emotional dysregulation, behavioural difficulties, trauma-related needs, or low confidence.
• Help students develop emotional awareness, resilience, self-esteem, and positive coping strategies.
• Build trusting and supportive relationships with students, acting as a consistent and positive role model.
• Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, pastoral staff, safeguarding teams, and other professionals to provide appropriate support.
• Assist with targeted wellbeing interventions and programmes.
• Help create a calm, safe, and nurturing environment throughout the school day.
• Support students during lessons, social times, and other periods where additional assistance may be required.
• Monitor and record student wellbeing and progress in line with school procedures.
• Identify and communicate concerns appropriately, following safeguarding and child protection policies.
• Contribute to a positive whole-school approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Mental Health Support Worker

Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing? Do you have experience in mental health, care, education, youth work, or a similar setting and want to use your skills in a rewarding school environment? We are working closely with schools across Corby who are looking for compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Support Workers to join their teams as soon as possible. These full-time, temporary-to-permanent opportunities are ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers, develop confidence, and build the skills they need to thrive both inside and outside the classroom. You will work as part of a wider pastoral and support team, providing targeted assistance to students with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs in a supportive and inclusive school environment.

We’re Looking For
