Job summary

Southdown Housing Association is seeking a Mental Health Support Coordinator to join our Hastings team in East Sussex. You will work in partnership with clients and the community to provide targeted mental health and holistic support, from initial assessments to facilitating access to services.

You will deliver short term recovery-focused sessions, co-create support plans and goals, and use coaching and motivational interviewing to remove barriers to care.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of working in mental health or equivalent transferable skills.
• Genuine passion for supporting people to explore their needs.
• Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be paid for by Southdown.
• A full driving licence is essential along with access to your own car or a car insured for you.

Responsibilities

• Support clients from initial assessment through to facilitating access to other mental health services.

Hours: 37 per week

Working pattern: will be discussed at interview. Based on the current operational requirements of the service, post holders are ordinarily required to work Wednesday and Thursday evenings as well as one Saturday a month. There is some flexibility around the remaining hours

What you’ll be doing:

Southdown is one of the leading providers of mental health services in Sussex. We have transformed our services to provide easier access to mental health support for people across East Sussex. As a Mental Health Support Coordinator, you’ll work in partnership and in the community to provide targeted mental health and holistic support.

You’ll support clients, from completing initial assessment through to facilitating access to other mental health services. A key part of the role will be to deliver short term recovery-focused sessions with clients, co-creating support plans and goals, and using coaching and motivational interviewing to explore barriers. You’ll work in Southdown buildings and community locations and be able to travel across neighbourhoods in order to offer accessible services. You will have experience of a dynamic approach to risk assessment and be committed to removing barriers to clients receiving the support they need. This role will require working until 8pm at least one night a week.

If you are passionate about providing recovery focused support to enable clients to reach their goals, we’d love to hear from you. We welcome applications from candidates with previous experience such as Support Worker, Social Prescriber, Case Manager, Social Worker, Care Coordinator, Mental Health Specialist or Service Coordinator. However, this is not essential and full training will be provided.
