Job summary

The post involves working with individuals with severe mental health conditions, under the guidance of an OT, within a multidisciplinary ward team. The service emphasizes staff development and supervision throughout induction and CPD events.

Responsibilities

• Provide Occupational Therapy intervention under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist on the ward.
• Promote and facilitate the OT programme on the ward through 1:1 intervention and group work, and enable access to local community resources for discharge.
• Work closely with a well-established MDT on the ward.
• Work alongside qualified OT staff to coordinate day-to-day running of the OT service on adult acute inpatient wards.
• Input into OT service planning and development and lead on implementation where appropriate.
• Collaborate with and feedback to a well-established MDT.
• Develop specialist knowledge and skills in working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health conditions.
• Be aware of community resources within the trust, local authority and third sector to refer patients for discharge preparation.
