An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Mental Health practitioner to work within HMP Inverness.
Under the supervision of senior nursing colleagues you will assist in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating evidence informed care in line with national and local guidelines. You will provide individualised care and support to people who have mental ill health and who may require complex case management.
You will practice within relevant generic national and local standards to provide safe and effective mental health nursing care to individuals in a prison setting, as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
Under the supervision of senior colleagues you will provide, coordinate and manage complex packages of mental health care to people in the care of the prison.
As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner you will coordinate and manage services, engaging in multidisciplinary and multi agency team working and partnership including with Scottish Prison Service (SPS) colleagues.
As part of the Multi Disciplinary Team you will assist patients to achieve optimum health and well being this will include, taking account of patient choice, identifying any recommended changes in lifestyle and promoting self care.
You may participate in the general duties within the Health Centre including medication dispensing and supporting GP clinics.
You would regularly administer medication, assess the clinical effectiveness of medication regimes as well as monitoring mental state and any medication side effects and feed back to prescribers.
You will participate in the planning and facilitation of therapeutic group activities in collaboration with other professionals.
The post holder will have regular managerial supervision from the Team Lead on all aspects of their role.
