Do you enjoy varied work and developing skills across diverse complaints and age groups? If so, consider joining our well-established, friendly, and knowledgeable Liaison service.

An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable Mental Health Practitioner to join the South Manchester Mental Health Liaison Team, based within Wythenshawe Hospital and Trafford General Hospital.

The Liaison Service has been operational since 2010, operating 24 hours in line with CORE-24 requirements.

Main Duties
  1. Work as part of the integrated multidisciplinary 24-hour mental health liaison service, providing clinical interventions focused on relapse prevention, early discharge, and improved quality of life for referred patients.
  2. Assess individuals attending the A&E department, including Under 16s in Pediatrics Emergency Department, offering comprehensive risk assessments and management plans.
  3. Provide assessment and support to wards and the Intermediate Care Setting, evaluating individuals with complex needs, including organic and functional illnesses.
  4. Support and train hospital staff on recognizing mental illness and appropriate actions.
  5. Offer assessment, support, and care for individuals brought to the Emergency Department under section 136 of the Mental Health Act.
