Job description

A vacancy has arisen for a Mental Health professional to join the PLAN Accredited Liaison Team at Royal Derby Hospital as a Band 6 Liaison Team Practitioner for a fixed term / secondment covering the maternity leave of a staff member.

The Liaison Team offers a comprehensive range of mental health specialties within one multi-disciplinary team, so that all patients of 18 and above can be assessed, treated, signposted or referred appropriately regardless of age, address, presenting complaint, time of presentation or severity and complexity.

The service aims to meet the mental health needs of all adult patients in the hospital, including those who self-harm, who have drug/alcohol issues, or who have mental health difficulties commonly associated with old age, including dementia. This is either through direct contact with the patient or supporting and advising the Royal Derby Hospital clinicians.

Main duties of the job

As a registered practitioner you are personally accountable for your professional practice and have a legal/professional responsibility to service users, colleagues, employers and self.

The post holder will provide strong leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered to improve the quality of and shape responsive services. The post holder will be responsible for establishing operational and service mechanisms that support safe high quality care throughout the twenty-four hour period. The post holder will present a professional image to promote a positive image to service users, carers and the community as a whole.

Knowledge and Experience
  • Demonstrable experience in either; adult mental health, older adults, substance misuse, post registration clinical expertise
  • Demonstrate leadership skills such as motivation, facilitation, mentorship.
