Job summary

The Mental Health Legislation Team at Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust provides specialist advice across inpatient and community services on the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and DoLS.

The post holder will work with the MHL Manager to maintain an efficient service, advise on legal obligations, process documents and coordinate hearings and renewals, ensuring timely compliance across the Trust.

Qualifications

• Good knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 and its Codes of Practice.
• High level administrative skills and experience with legislation and legal documents desirable.
• Experience supporting DoLS and related processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice and support to professionals across the Trust on the Mental Health Act 1983 and related codes.
• Inform patients and relatives about detention, rights and appeals under the MHA 1983.
• Collaborate with Consultants to ensure legal obligations are met within time limits.
• Coordinate MHA assessments, renewal hearings and related documentation.
