Job summary

Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is advertising for a Mental Health Legislation Assistant within the Mental Health Legislation Department at Oleaster, B15 2SY. You will support the administration of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act by receiving, scrutinising and processing legal documentation, ensuring accuracy, compliance and adherence to statutory deadlines.

Qualifications

Experienced administrator who is organised, adaptable and able to manage competing priorities.
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
Confidence using Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, Word, Teams, Copilot and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Receive, scrutinise and process documentation related to patients' admission, treatment and care under Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
Support Mental Health Tribunals, Hospital Managers' Hearings, renewals and reviews by coordinating correspondence and arranging hearings.
Monitor deadlines and maintain accurate records; liaise with clinical teams and external agencies.
Provide cross-cover during periods of absence and support new staff; participate in service improvements.
