Job summary

A leading company in mental health support is looking for a Mental Health Counsellor based in Hounslow. This role involves providing vital support and counselling to individuals from the BAME community, focusing on those impacted by domestic violence and mental health issues. Job description

Mental Health Counsellor

Location: Based at in Hounslow and will be required to work from any of EACH s locations based on the needs of the service. Remote working may be required.
Salary: GBP29,528 - GBP31,514 (including Outer London Weighting) for Full Time Equivalent (37.5hrs) (GBP20,473 GBP21,850 pro-rata for 26 hours/week)
Hours: Part Time, 26 hours per week (10 00 over 4 days)
Contract: Permanent, subject to performance and continuous funding

EACH provides a range of specialist services to individuals and families affected by mental health, domestic violence, and alcohol and substance misuse issues.

We are looking for qualified counsellors who are skilled in their practice and compassionate about making a difference to people s lives to help them recover from the impact of mental health, trauma and domestic abuse.

Successful candidates will be responsible for providing one-to-one emotional support, structured counselling, and group work for:

  • BAME women/men experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
  • Asylum seekers experiencing mental health challenges and/or trauma related to migration, particularly those whose first language is not English

As our Mental Health Counsellor you will:

  • Assess, engage, and provide structured counselling and group work for members of the BAME community, including non-/limited English speakers, recent arrivals (refugees and asylum seekers), and those experiencing domestic abuse and/or mental health issues.
  • Contribute to the overall success of EACH s services.
  • Establish strong working relationships with local partnerships and promote the service to professionals and local communities.
  • Support volunteer and trainee counsellors in collaboration with other EACH staff and projects.
  • Work collaboratively within EACH and with partner organisations

In order to be successful in this role you must have:

  • A recognised counselling qualification (minimum diploma level or equivalent) and registration with a professional governing body (e.g. BACP, UKCP).
  • Experience in counselling and supporting members of BAME communities affected by mental health challenges and/or domestic violence and abuse.
  • Ability to conduct counselling and provide support in a community language relevant to asylum seekers (Farsi, Arabic, Tigrinya and Spanish)
  • Knowledge of the issues and barriers faced by BAME communities.
  • Understanding of mental health and domestic abuse issues.
  • Flexibility to work some evening/weekend phone or digital-based sessions as needed
