Job summary

Academics in Abingdon is seeking a Psychology graduate to join a SEN school as a Mental Health Assistant. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to students, helping them build confidence and coping strategies.

Work with teachers to promote a positive, inclusive environment, observe wellbeing and progress, and build strong, trusting relationships with students. Start ASAP; pay £93–£110 per day, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm. Salary will reflect qualifications and experience.

A Secondary School in Abingdon is seeking a dedicated and caring Mental Health Assistant to join their team. This role is ideal for aspiring Educational Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Counsellors, Therapists, or Teachers.

As a Mental Health Assistant, you will:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students experiencing emotional or mental health challenges.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience, independence, and positive coping strategies.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment.
• Observe and monitor students' wellbeing, engagement, and progress throughout the school day.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with students while providing consistent emotional support.
