Job summary

North Tyneside Council is seeking an Advanced Practitioner to provide expert practice leadership within the Adult Mental Health Social Work Team. You will support complex decision-making, mentor colleagues and help drive service improvement while maintaining a small caseload.

The role offers hybrid working, reflective supervision, ongoing learning opportunities and a strong leadership structure to develop practice and achieve positive outcomes for residents of North Tyneside.

Qualifications

• Qualified social worker or mental health nurse with registration.
• Registration with Social Work England or NMC.
• Accredited post-qualifying award.
• Experience in adult social care or specialist community mental health services.
• Experience managing complex/high-risk casework.
• Experience mentoring, coaching, supervising or developing others.
• Knowledge of Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, DoLS, Mental Health Act 1983, safeguarding, human rights.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced practice oversight and reflective supervision to Social Workers and Mental Health Reablement Workers.
• Lead on complex case management involving high-risk situations, safeguarding, mental capacity, hospital discharges and MHA responsibilities.
• Act as escalation point for complex or contentious situations.
• Lead safeguarding enquiries and support decision-making.
• Chair complex safeguarding meetings where appropriate.
• Support quality assurance through audits, case reviews and practice evaluation.
• Champion strengths-based, recovery-focused and trauma-informed practice.
• Support workforce development through coaching and professional development activities.
• Promote consistency and high standards of practice across the service.
• Contribute to service development, innovation and continuous improvement.
• Support partnership working across health, housing, voluntary and community sectors.
• Deputise for Team Manager and represent service at strategic forums.
