Job summary

Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Activity Co-ordinator for the Basildon Mental Health Unit. You will assist in delivering recreational activities on the ward, both one-to-one and in groups, including creative, social and physical activities.

Flexibility is required; some evenings and weekends work is expected. You will liaise with ward staff, lead activities, prepare equipment, manage stocks and develop engaging pathways to support patients’ interests while

Qualifications

• Experience in mental health (preferred)
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Good problem solving abilities

Responsibilities

• Liaise with ward staff in planning recreational activities
• Lead recreational activities for groups and individuals
• Prepare craft and equipment before activities
• Maintain stocks of supplies and inform shortages
• Develop rapport with patients and involve them in planning
• Be aware of patients' needs through nursing staff
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to support timetable
• Observe behaviour and responses to activities
• Report concerns to qualified staff
• Respect patient confidentiality at all times
• Record interventions in an agreed format
• Carry out other tasks as delegated by staff
