Job summary

JP Engineering, a growing consultancy for civil, structural and geotechnical engineering and transport planning, is offering a technician role. You will work on diverse schemes from concept to delivery with mentoring from senior staff to build knowledge and progress.

The role supports a four-day office pattern with one day from home, and a strong emphasis on ongoing training and development, including ICE training provider status and an attractive benefits package.

Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering is essential; MEng is preferred.
• Experience with design software is advantageous.
• Interest in highways/infrastructure is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support project engineers with drawings, calculations and reports.
• Attend site visits to review constraints and construction process.
• Develop knowledge of design software under team guidance.
• Follow company procedures to deliver high-quality work.
• Identify and manage risks within scope of responsibility.
• Coordinate with engineers, technicians and senior staff on schemes.
• Provide feedback to line manager and directors.

Job description

Our client is a growing consultancy offering civil, structural and geotechnical engineering and transport planning services, with offices UK wide. With a welcoming team and variety of development projects, you'll have the opportunity to begin your civil engineering technician career by building your technical knowledge and immersing yourself in an office environment. Your plans for growth will be supported by a highly experienced Senior technician who is readily accessible day to day to offer comprehensive mentoring to help you progress. Our technician team boasts several technicians, each with several years' experience, including under the apprentice route.

THE OPPORTUNITY

You'll have the opportunity to work on a variety of schemes, from early concept through to planning, detailed design and delivery. The role will let you get stuck into real technical challenges, with plenty of support as you build your knowledge of engineering principles, sustainable development and the industry. As the business grows, so will your opportunities to develop your career and be rewarded for it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supporting project engineers in preparing drawings, calculations, reports and design documents
• Completing site visits to review project constraints and the construction process as needed
• Building your knowledge of design software and design guides/standards, with support from the team
• Following company procedures for delivering high-quality work that adds value to our schemes
• Identifying and managing risks within your area of responsibility
• Coordinating with project engineers, technicians and senior team involved in scheme delivery
• Providing 360 degree feedback to line manager and business directors
