Job summary

Haringey Council in London is seeking a proactive Members’ Support Officer to join the Democratic Services team. You will coordinate a range of support activities, manage competing priorities, liaise with councillors and officers, and help ensure the smooth operation of democratic processes.

This role requires excellent organisation, strong IT and customer service, and the ability to work under pressure. It offers 36 hours per week, a fixed-term contract of 12 months, and opportunities for

Starting salary: PO2 (£42,771 – £45,750)

Work location: Alexandra House, 10 Station Road, Wood Green, London, N22 7TR

Hours per week: 36

About The Role

We are looking for an organised and professional Members’ Support Officer to join our Democratic Services team. This is a rewarding role at the heart of local government, providing high-quality administrative and business support to elected Members and helping to ensure the smooth operation of democratic processes. You will coordinate a range of support activities, manage competing priorities, liaise with councillors and officers, and play an important role in delivering an efficient, responsive service. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and outstanding customer service are essential.

About The Team

You will join a dedicated and collaborative Democratic Services team that supports the Council’s decision-making processes and elected Members. Working alongside Committee Coordinators, Scrutiny Officers, the Mayor’s Office and colleagues across the organisation, you’ll be part of a professional service that values integrity, teamwork and excellent governance. The team is committed to delivering a high standard of support and ensuring that Members have the resources and assistance they need to serve local communities effectively.

About You

We are looking for a proactive and highly organised individual with excellent communication and administrative skills. You will be confident building positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, handling sensitive information with discretion, and managing a varied workload to tight deadlines. Strong IT skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently are key to success in this role. Most importantly, you’ll have a customer-focused approach, a commitment to high standards, and an enthusiasm for supporting democratic services and elected Members.
