Job summary

ECS Engineering Services Ltd is seeking a MEICA / Small Works Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive estimates and proposals for water and wastewater MEICA and small E&M projects. You will translate client requirements into cost build-ups and present compelling value to secure orders, while following up quotations through clarifications and negotiations.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, construction, quantity surveying, or related discipline.
• Experience estimating site installation and construction activities.
• Knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts.
• Proficiency in estimating software and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate estimates, proposals and quotations for MEICA and small works projects.
• Convert client requirements and specifications into clear cost build-ups and persuasive, technically compliant proposals.
• Present ECS’s scope and value effectively and follow submitted quotations through clarification, negotiation and order conversion.
• Travel to client sites, suppliers and subcontractors as required.
• Work predominantly from the ECS office in Sutton-in-Ashfield and collaborate with project teams.

Job Description for MEICA / Small Works Estimator

The role supports the Engineering team and focuses predominantly on MEICA and PPM remedial works. The Estimator will progress multiple enquiries of varying value and complexity, site asset condition review and analysis, and maintain the quality, traceability and timeliness of estimates, proposals and quotations.

Job Purpose

To prepare accurate, competitive and commercially robust estimates, proposals and quotations for MEICA and small work M&E projects, principally involving Water and wastewater Control, River Structures & Pumping Station equipment Refurbishment/Renewal of mechanical and electrical equipment. The role will convert client requirements and specifications into clear cost build-ups and persuasive, technically compliant proposals; present ECS’s scope and value effectively; and actively follow submitted quotations through clarification, negotiation and order conversion.

Further Aspects of the Role

• Predominantly office-based at ECS, Sutton-in-Ashfield.
• Travel to client sites, suppliers and subcontractors throughout the UK may be required.
• Occasional flexibility outside normal working hours may be needed to meet tender deadlines.
• Proficiency in estimating software and advanced Excel spreadsheets.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop proposals, discuss quotations confidently with clients, follow up professionally, and work collaboratively with suppliers and project teams.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake site and supplier visits as required.
• Relevant qualification in mechanical engineering, construction, quantity surveying, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of standard contracts such as NEC3 or NEC4.
• Experience estimating site installation, lifting operations, access requirements, and associated construction activities.
