Job summary

University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust invites applications for a Lead Pharmacist, Medicines Safety Officer. You will champion medication incident reporting and oversee learning across the Trust.

The role requires clinical governance leadership, collaboration with pharmacy, nursing and medical teams, and engagement with national safety networks to keep medicines safety priorities up to date.

Responsibilities

• Lead on medicines safety across the pharmacy department and provide assurance to the Chief Pharmacist and Pharmacy SLT.
• Encourage medication incident reporting and learning; identify themes/trends and oversee action plans.
• Lead collaborative workstreams to improve medication safety and communicate risks and mitigations.
• Oversee medicines shortages management and contribute to local decision making and prioritisation.
• Support service evaluation, audits, and development/maintenance of local and organisational policies.
• Input into the use of digital solutions to improve safety, including EPMA systems.
• Lead internal communications on medicines safety and shortages within the department and with stakeholders.
