We currently have multiple Locum Consultant Medicine positions available in General, Acute or Geriatric Medicine at various hospitals in and around London. Rates we can offer range from £72.28 (Pan London social rate) to £105 PAYE per hour, with a Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 schedule, and potential on-call duties.
Qualifications & Training
- MRCP / FRCP / MBBS (or equivalent)
- Fully registered with the GMC
- Preferably a holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Acute, General or Geriatric Medicine
Experience
- Experience leading Acute, General or Geriatric admitting medical teams
- Experience working with allied professions
- Able to lead and make consultant-level decisions in Orthogeriatrics/Peri-operative Medicine/Ambulatory medicine
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Ability to practice independently in Acute, General or Geriatric Medicine
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on related problems
- Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent clinical skills
Geriatric Medicine Key Responsibilities:
- Ward-based work: Providing care for elderly patients, including daily reviews and ward rounds.
- Acute frailty assessment: Working in frailty assessment units or liaising with other specialties for timely assessment and management.
- Inpatient and outpatient care: Participating in clinics, including rapid access clinics.
- Liaison with other specialties: Providing expert opinions on frailty and Orthogeriatrics.
- On-call responsibilities: Sharing duties, possibly including stroke on-call, weekend, or overnight care for older adults. (Not required for all positions)
Acute Medicine Key Locums
- Acute Medical Unit (AMU): Consultant review of inpatients, ward rounds, overseeing management.
- Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)/Ambulatory Care: Leading assessment and management, including late shifts or afternoon sessions.
- Acute Take: Managing new admissions, leading assessments.
- On-call: Night, weekend, or flexible coverage depending on the hospital setup. (Not required for all positions)
- Ward Rounds: Reviewing patients and managing care.
- Consultations: With outpatients.
- Procedures: Performing relevant procedures.
- Emergency Care: Responding to emergencies.
- On-Call Duties: Providing outside hours care, from home or on-site. (Not required for all positions)
