We currently have multiple Locum Consultant Medicine positions available in General, Acute or Geriatric Medicine at various hospitals in and around London. Rates offered range from £72.28 (Pan London social rate) to £105 PAYE per hour, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, and potential on-call duties.
Qualifications & Training
- MRCP / FRCP / MBBS (or equivalent)
- Fully registered with the GMC
- Preferably a holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Acute, General or Geriatric Medicine
Experience
- Experience leading Acute, General or Geriatric admitting medical teams
- Experience working with allied health professions
- Ability to lead and make consultant-level decisions in Orthogeriatrics, Peri-operative Medicine, or Ambulatory Medicine
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to take full and independent responsibility for patient clinical care
- Ability to practice independently in Acute, General or Geriatric Medicine
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on related problems
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent clinical skills
Geriatric Medicine Key Responsibilities:
- Ward-based work: Providing care for elderly patients on wards, including reviews and ward rounds.
- Acute frailty assessment: Working in frailty units or liaising with other specialties for timely assessment and management of frail older adults.
- Inpatient and outpatient care: Participating in clinics, including rapid access clinics.
- Liaison with other specialties: Providing specialist opinions on older adult care, especially in frailty and Orthogeriatrics.
- On-call responsibilities: Sharing duties, which may include stroke on-call, weekend, or overnight cover (not mandatory for all positions).
Acute Medicine Key Locums:
- Acute Medical Unit (AMU): Consultant review of inpatients, ward rounds, overseeing management.
- Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC)/Ambulatory Care: Leading assessment and management, possibly including late or afternoon shifts.
- Acute Take: Managing new admissions from emergency departments.
- On-call: Possible weekday nights, weekends, or both, varying by hospital setup.
- Ward Rounds: Attending rounds, reviewing patients, managing care.
- Consultations: Outpatient evaluations.
- Procedures: Performing procedures related to General Medicine.
- Emergency Care: Responding to medical emergencies.
- On-Call Duties: Providing care outside regular hours, from home or on-site (not mandatory for all).
