We currently have multiple Locum Consultant Medicine positions available in General, Acute or Geriatric Medicine at various hospitals in and around London. Rates offered range from £72.28 (Pan London social rate) to £105 PAYE per hour, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, and potential on-call duties.

Qualifications & Training

• MRCP / FRCP / MBBS (or equivalent)
• Fully registered with the GMC
• Preferably a holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Acute, General or Geriatric Medicine

Experience

• Experience leading Acute, General or Geriatric admitting medical teams
• Experience working with allied professions
• Able to lead and make consultant-level decisions in Orthogeriatrics/Peri-operative Medicine/Ambulatory Medicine

Clinical Knowledge and Skills

• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
• Ability to practice independently in Acute, General or Geriatric Medicine
• Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on related problems
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Excellent clinical skills

Geriatric Medicine Key Responsibilities:

• Ward-based care including daily reviews and consultant ward rounds
• Working in frailty assessment units and liaising with other specialties
• Participation in inpatient and outpatient clinics, including rapid access clinics
• Providing specialist opinions to other hospital teams
• Sharing on-call duties, which may include stroke, weekend, or overnight on-call for Older Person's medical needs (not required for every position)

Acute Medicine Key Locums

• Consultant review of inpatients on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU)
• Leading assessment and management in Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) or Ambulatory Care units
• Managing the acute medical take, including assessment of new emergency admissions
• On-call duties, which may involve nights, weekends, or both (not required for every position)
• Attending ward rounds, reviewing patients, and managing their care
• Conducting outpatient consultations
• Performing procedures related to General Medicine
• Responding to and managing acute medical emergencies
