Medical Writer - Medcomms

Reports to Senior or Principal Medical Writer

Job Summary

Medical content development encompasses a range of deliverables including strategy/ planning, conferences, advisory boards, and interactive content. This role involves working with a team that partners with a growing portfolio of leading pharma clients across rare disease and oncology therapeutic areas.

• Ensuring quality control across all materials produced
• Developing written materials in line with client requirements, timelines, editorial policy, ABPI Code of Practice, and key messages, with review by Lead/Senior Medical Writer
• May include editing as well as writing
• Ensuring all written material is appropriately pitched, on brief, delivered on time, fully referenced, and compliant with regulations
• Attending conferences and advisory board meetings, developing drafts for review
• Coordinating with the Medical Communications team
• Updating line manager and accounts team on project progress
• Gaining understanding of client brand and disease areas
• Researching therapy areas as needed
• Liaising with authors/advisors, including face-to-face meetings, with support from Lead/Senior Medical Writer

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications

• Experience as an Associate Medical Writer in medcomms, healthcare agency, or pharma environment
• Understanding of therapeutic areas and ability to provide strategic input
• Strong understanding of science, medicine, healthcare, and medical communications
• Leadership skills
• Approachability
• Experience in healthcare agency or pharmaceutical company
• Project management and analytical skills
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook
• Knowledge of the ABPI Code of Practice
