Job summary

Cardiff and Vale University Health Board in Bath is seeking a proactive Medical Secretary to join the General Surgery Department. The role provides comprehensive administrative support, manages RTT referrals, patient correspondence and appointment coordination with accuracy and speed.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, handling calls, typing letters and maintaining patient records to support safe, timely patient care in a fast-paced NHS setting.

Qualifications

• Typing ability and attention to detail are essential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and databases.

Responsibilities

• Provide a complete medical administrative service including RTT referrals and patient correspondence.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the admin service runs smoothly and safely.
• Answer telephone enquiries, relay messages, and prioritise issues with good judgement.
• Manage incoming correspondence via email from patients, GPs and other departments.
• Ensure clinician correspondence is typed, edited and sent promptly, and track diagnostic reports.
