Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced Medical Lead for Dorset Integrated Urgent Care Services (DIUCS). This senior role provides visible clinical leadership across urgent care, leading a large medical workforce across NHS 111, clinical assessment, out-of-hours visiting, and urgent care operations.

The post offers 5 PAs per week with at least 3 based at the DIUCS hub in St Leonards, and a 10% responsibility payment in addition to substantive salary.

Responsibilities

Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and effective senior clinician to join Dorset HealthCare as the Medical Lead for Dorset Integrated Urgent Care Services (DIUCS). This is an important senior leadership role, providing visible clinical leadership across a diverse portfolio of urgent care services and supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
The Medical Lead will have oversight and responsibility for a large DIUCS medical workforce supporting NHS 111, a clinical assessment service, out of hours visiting services, a single point of access for professionals, urgent treatment centres and minor injuries units. DIUCS provides a streamlined urgent care pathway across Dorset, helping patients access advice and treatment more quickly while reducing pressure on primary care, Emergency Departments and the 999 service.
Working closely with operational leaders, clinicians and system partners, you will help ensure services remain responsive, effective and sustainable for patients across Dorset.
This opportunity would suit a senior medic who can lead and inspire others, has a compassionate and patient-centred approach and is committed to developing individuals and teams.
This post is 5 PAs per week, with at least 3 PAs expected to be based at the DIUCS hub in St Leonards. Job share applications are welcomed. A 10% responsibility payment is payable in addition to the substantive salary in recognition of the leadership and managerial responsibilities of the role.
Main duties of the job
As Medical Lead, you will provide senior clinical leadership across DIUCS, working in partnership with the Head of Service, Medical Director and wider leadership team to deliver high-quality, safe and effective urgent care services.
Key responsibilities include:
