Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust seeks an enthusiastic, organised Biomedical Lab Administrative Assistant to join the Southport and Ormskirk laboratories. You will perform clerical and reception duties, log specimens, and record tests on the laboratory computer system under supervision.

Working independently on pre-analytical preparation, you will assist patients and staff, and rotate across shifts including evenings and weekends as the department moves towards 24/7

• Strong communication with staff, patients and external colleagues.
• Ability to work under supervision and in a team within a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic clerical and reception duties within the laboratory.
• Receive and log specimens into the department and record tests on the laboratory computer system.
• Work independently under supervision to undertake pre-analytical preparation of specimens.
• Act as first point of reference for enquiries and assist patients with general questions.
