The post is based at Wigan, with potential requirements to work at other sites. PAWS was formed from the merger of Pathology Services at Salford Royal Hospital and Wigan, Wrightington, and Leigh Hospitals.
Medical Laboratory Assistants in Specimen Reception support Blood Sciences and other pathology departments. Responsibilities include entering patient data into the laboratory IT system, handling specimens, assisting with analytical processes, and performing clerical work.
This role requires working late shifts, weekends, and nights on a rota basis. Key duties include maintaining laboratory equipment, managing archive systems, and general housekeeping. Physical ability to lift heavy objects and push trolleys is necessary.
We seek conscientious individuals capable of accurate work, with excellent customer care and communication skills. Basic numeracy and literacy are required. Laboratory experience is advantageous but not essential. Previous experience is not mandatory.
