Job summary

Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant (Band 2) to join the busy Blood Sciences Department at Tameside Hospital. The role involves preparing and processing clinical specimens and handling reception queries.

The post offers full training and ongoing support, with a 24/7 rota as required. UKAS ISO15189 accreditation is noted, and a commitment to quality care is emphasised.

Qualifications

• Good communication and organisational skills are required.
• Experience or familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process clinical specimens of blood, urine, faeces, sputum and other body tissues.
• Deal with reception and telephone queries from staff, GPs and other users of the Pathology Service.
• Perform data input and filing as part of routine laboratory administration.
• Work with the Biomedical Scientists to support a quality medical laboratory service.
