Two engineers will be based at St Helier Hospital and two at Epsom Hospital, with cross-site working as required. The post holders will work closely with Clinical Engineering, clinical services, Estates, Procurement, Finance and other stakeholders to verify medical equipment and resolve discrepancies in asset records.

Identify equipment requiring further technical assessment, maintenance, replacement or decommissioning and elevate appropriately.
Update asset management systems accurately and maintain records of audit findings and outstanding actions.
Liaise with Clinical Engineering, clinical services, Estates, Procurement, Finance and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies.
Apply professional engineering judgement to identify and elevate potential safety, compliance and governance risks.
Provide audit progress updates and support final reporting, equipment lifecycle planning and improvements to medical device asset management.
Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust provides a range of medical services to approximately 490,000 people living across southwest London and northeast Surrey. In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area, covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire.
We serve an area that is rich in diversity, with a mix of urban and rural areas, and differing levels of quality of life. We cover some of the most prosperous postcodes in the country, as well as some poorer areas. Together with our colleagues at NHS Surrey and NHS Sutton and Merton, we work to make sure that we deliver the best possible care to the communities we serve.
The Trust employs approximately 5,000 staff across its hospitals and is supported by over 500 volunteers.
The post holder will provide a high-quality medical device audit and asset assurance service across the Trust, using their specialist Clinical/Medical Engineering knowledge to identify, verify and accurately record medical equipment and reconcile physical equipment against the Trust's medical device asset register.
The post holder will be responsible for undertaking systematic physical audits of medical devices across clinical and non-clinical areas, verifying equipment identification, asset numbers, serial numbers, manufacturer, model, location, ownership and status. They will identify and appropriately elevate discrepancies, unregistered or missing equipment, obsolete assets, equipment with unclear ownership and devices requiring further technical or safety assessment.
The post holder will apply professional engineering judgement to identify potential clinical safety, maintenance, compliance and governance risks associated with medical devices encountered during the audit and ensure these are escalated to the appropriate Clinical/Medical Engineering lead.
The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical services, Clinical Engineering, Medical Engineering, Estates, Procurement, Finance and other stakeholders to resolve asset-record discrepancies and improve the accuracy and completeness of the Trust's medical device asset register.
The post holder will maintain accurate audit records, update approved asset-management systems and databases, monitor outstanding actions and contribute to progress reporting and the final project report.
The post holder will also support the identification of medical devices requiring future replacement, decommissioning or further investigation, providing accurate information to support medical device governance, lifecycle management and future capital replacement planning.
The post holder will be expected to work independently across St Helier Hospital and Epsom Hospital, manage competing priorities and complete the allocated audit workload within the five-month project timeframe.
