Job summary

The Sixth Form College in Farnborough is seeking a proactive Media Technician to join the Media and Film Department. You will work closely with the senior technician and teaching staff to support students, helping them produce outstanding coursework and to develop technical resources.

The role includes managing kit hire, delivering tutorials on DSLR, studio use, Premiere Pro and Photoshop, and providing classroom technical support throughout the academic year.

  • A genuine passion for the subject;
  • Excellent skills with modern technology, including Adobe Creative Suite and Premier Pro;
  • Excellent subject knowledge with a range of digital and hands on skills;
  • Good organisational skills;
  • Desire to continue to develop their knowledge and skills;
  • An ability to multitask;
  • Enthusiasm for working with 16-19 year old students;

Responsibilities

  • To work with our technical team on building a range of material to support our students, including video tutorials to be published on our YouTube Channel.

The Role

The Media and Film Department has 10 members of teaching staff, one senior technician and 500+ students. Courses taught in the department are A Level Media Studies, A Level Film Studies and Digital Media (single and double). The department is extremely well resourced and continually delivers outstanding results, with many of our students progressing onto Further Education to study Media and Film courses.

The role of the Media Technician is to work closely with our senior technician and teaching staff to provide technical assistance for our students to allow them to produce outstanding coursework and to develop the technical support we provide.
