Job summary

The Department of Oxford Population Health at University of Oxford is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to join its Communications Team and help enhance the department's reputation and maximise the visibility and impact of its research.

You will lead media relations, develop and coordinate communications activities, create and edit materials for press releases, newsletters, websites and social media, build relationships with journalists and policy-makers, and monitor performance metrics to

Qualifications

  • Degree level or equivalent required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills essential.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly to non-specialist audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal, research and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate media relations activities to elevate department visibility and impact.
  • Develop and coordinate multi-channel communications campaigns aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Create, edit and proofread materials for press releases, newsletters, websites and social media.
  • Build relationships with journalists, partner press offices and policy-makers to amplify research communication.
  • Support researchers with media engagement and training; monitor coverage and produce performance metrics.
